Please be careful on ladders and make sure someone is there to spot you.  I am asking for your prayers for my Brother–in-Law who fell from a 6 foot ladder 7 days ago and sustained major head trauma.  He is still in a coma, all fluids are drained, still has some swelling.

On another tragedy I just learned a friend’s husband in OKC just had the very same incident and they buried him after 3 weeks from his injury just last Saturday.

Wednesday, Feb 29 – Rosary with your AOH brothers at Queen (71st and Metcalf). What a great Lenten practice – in addition to your own Lenten sacrifice, add a short time of prayer with your brothers.

*Other events and birthdays may be occurring in February and were not intentionally omitted, but are a condition of CRS (Can’t Remember Sh…Stuff).

As a reminder, our dues need to be paid. Please pay using PayPal on the website, bring your check to a meeting, or mail a check to the P.O. Box. Brother Bill Herdegen provided some great insight into raising funds for the division while also making his contributions:

Gents,

 

I wanted to begin some discussion on this topic.  There are some things we can do now that we are an official 501.c3 organization and we should make our members aware:

  • Many companies in town have a matching campaign for charitable organizations.  KCP&L will match $.50 on the dollar.  I will be sending in my check for a larger amount to cover not only my $100 dues but some extra to add to the hardship fund.  We need to remind everyone to check with their companies as well.  It can generate more cash for us.
  • The other area we can make more cash is during the annual United Way Campaigns for each company.  Company donor lists may have other organizations, such as the Crime Commission, that are not a United Way Agency, but since they are a 501.c3 organization, I have the ability to send a part of my expected contribution to them.  All I need is the FIN number for AOH.  I wish I had thought of that when we had the sign up in August for this year.  Something to keep in mind.  I donor designate all of my expected contributions since I don’t want any of my contributions supporting abortion clinics and such.

 

If you have a matching campaign at your company, there may be documents to be completed with identification numbers and such. We’d be happy to help with these documents to ensure they are in order.

 

Enjoy the Feast Day. Learn something new about an Irish saint. And we look forward to gathering and celebrating our brotherhood at some of the events in February.

I came across a really different and some what affordable twist to that visit.

I was daydreaming of someday visiting Ireland again and found  this site that seems more like going home for a visit instead of going to a hotel as a tourist. Galway Bay Cottages, located in Barna, County Galway, Ireland. They have several cottages all within about a 15 minute ride outside of Galway City on the coast near Connemara. A very close friend of mine, Father Richard Vadrine, told me of a site that he found for some of his parish members to use who are home bound or are unable to make it to Mass because of work requirements or other reasons. I have just spent the last few hours going over the site and I think its wonderful.
